developmental discussion

during this session, we’ll reframe your opinion of the months ahead as the terrific (not terrible) twos.  we’ll discuss ways to support your toddler’s cognitive, language, social and emotional development with an emphasis on preparation for preschool, separation, toilet training, imaginary friends, fears and phobias, toddler self-esteem, the importance of play and introducing limited quality television.

discipline and limit setting: individual or group

your toddler wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t test limits and begin to establish autonomy.  as parents, it is our job to help our children learn what those limits are, how to manage emotional reactions and frustrations and what behaviors are acceptable, all while fostering a healthy self esteem and sense of independence.  this workshop will focus on introducing your toddler to limit setting and discipline in an effective way, as well as strategies to help you change your child’s behavior through positive discipline.  we’ll cover effective ways to prompt and praise your child, the use of incentives and rewards, how to give an effective time-out, behavior shaping for more challenging behaviors, and how to respond (or not respond) to minor mis-behaviors.

specific developmental and behavioral discussions

through individualized sessions, we provide specific, useful, and research-based information to prepare you for the range of normal developmental challenges from temper tantrums to separation anxiety, being bullied to being the bully, handling non-negotiable issues versus negotiable ones, as well as various others including, feeding issues, getting your baby to sleep through the night or your child to stop biting, to name a few.  our mission is to help you develop highly effective ways to nurture your babies' growing mind, emotional well-being, and social relationships.  we’ll be there to provide you with cutting edge research on any child-related topic that concerns you.

sleep solutions

we will help solve your toddler’s sleep challenges (like moving to a big girl/boy bed, getting up in the night, or refusing to nap, to name a few) and will work with you in your home or through phone consultations to help you and your child sleep well!

mom's group

get other moms (dads or grandparents) of similar aged babies together and we’ll join you for a six-week session on topics we will design with you.  we’ll arm you with strategies that work and will help guide your choices about how you spend time with, respond to, and nurture your child.  our goal is to ease your anxieties, empower you with information, address your concerns and questions, and provide you with an ongoing circle of research-based support, all in the comfort of your own home.

seminars and workshops

we are available for group seminars to discuss child development and behavior.  topics range from establishing sleep routines to using positive discipline strategies that work, as well as all of the developmental issues addressed in our personalized visits such as nurturing language, literacy and math.

twins

while twins experience the normal course of development as all babies, a multitude of additional concerns, questions, and stresses arise when you’re dealing with two!  we’ll discuss everything from scheduling, sleep, and establishing independence, to sibling rivalry and discipline times two.  you’ll feel more confident and less overwhelmed because you’ll be equipped with research-based knowledge on the special parenting techniques and strategies that nurture your twins’ development and help manage the extra stressors.

caregiver training

we offer a multi-visit program designed to help your caregiver better understand and nurture the cognitive and social emotional development of your infant or toddler and to facilitate increased communication regarding your child’s development and your expectations.

toys for ages and stages

providing safe, fun, and developmentally appropriate toys isn’t as easy as it sounds.  there is so much to choose from and many concerns about what’s out there and what benefits or detriments toys can have on child development.  let us help ease your concerns and the hassle of finding the right toys for your child’s ages and stages.  we will send you safe, and developmentally appropriate toys, plus ideas for fun activities at every developmental stage.  we are committed to finding toys that are made in europe or the usa, and that are considered healthy for the planet and for your baby.
